Bubble tea sparks global craze! Taichung’s Top 10 Bubble Teas Unveiled at the Taichung Bubble Tea Festival

Taiwanese bubble tea has taken the world by storm. As the birthplace of bubble tea, Taichung launched its first-ever “Taichung Bubble Tea Festival” this year. A recent popularity vote for the top 10 bubble tea brands received an overwhelming response, with 398 shops and 47 brands participating. The event garnered over 120,000 votes during its run, and the results have now been announced. Five bubble teas and five bubble tea dishes emerged as the most beloved favorites.

Black Water Coffee stood out among numerous beverage brands, taking home both the “Annual Bubble Tea Champion” and “Most Popular Award” as a dark horse winner. Taiwan’s first “Brown Sugar Black Jade Latte” features a premium coffee with hints of hazelnut and chocolate that highlight the caramel sweetness of brown sugar pearls, offering a unique flavor you’ll fall in love with from the first sip.

Pick Sense Light Drinks – Peanut Taro Milk
This limited-time drink was an instant hit upon launch. Rich milk is paired with four toppings—white tapioca pearls, taro, peanuts, and peanut tofu—for a flavor-packed experience that’s simply irresistible. It also won the award for the Most Beautiful Visual Presentation.

Yifang Fruit Tea – Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk
Homemade sweet and chewy brown sugar pearls in an old-school style are paired with Yifang’s small-farm fresh milk, delivering a rich, caramelized aroma that melts in your mouth. The smooth texture and lingering deep brown sugar flavor make it truly addictive. It won the award for Best Chewiness.

Tea Association – Tieguanyin Pearl Milk Tea
This classic bubble tea gets a twist with roasted Tieguanyin tea, adding a mellow, fragrant depth to the creamy milk flavor. Paired with chewy pearls, the taste profile is elevated to a whole new level. It won the award for Best Mouthfeel.

85°C – Brown Sugar Pearl Fresh Milk
The “Brown Sugar Pearl Fresh Milk” boasts a rich milky flavor. During its trial sales period, it outsold regular bubble tea by six times. The brown sugar pearls are slow-cooked by hand for two hours, giving off a natural fragrance. When warm, chewy pearls are added to cold fresh milk and shaken, the result is a multi-layered flavor experience. It won the award for Best Value.
