Just as the Grand Canyon in the U.S. is a spectacular wonder, Linkou offers a similar breathtaking sight. Located beside the West Coast Expressway (Provincial Highway 61), Linkou Buffalo Pit, also known as the Linkou Grand Canyon, features unique landforms and nearby privately raised cattle herds. It has become a popular destination for wedding photography and social media check-ins, drawing many visitors.

The Xiafu Civic Activity Center in Linkou was built using local community benefit funds and designed in collaboration with a Spanish architect and his IMO team. Drawing inspiration from the ornate roof ridges of traditional temples, the design cleverly incorporates temple roof tiles and the yin-yang angles of water spouts into the building’s silhouette. Paired with the architectural team’s expertise in Western lighting techniques, it completely redefines the traditional image of civic centers, offering a fresh take on a century-old concept.

The Xinliao Leisure Trail is nearly 1 kilometer long, connecting the Laogongqi Trail and the Ren’ai Viewpoint. It’s a great spot for hiking and leisurely walks. In addition to linking various scenic spots, the other side of the trail leads to a quiet valley that offers different views throughout the seasons. With wide-open vistas, it’s also a fantastic place to enjoy beautiful night scenes after dark.

Located near the Linkou Branch of National Normal University and Xingwu University of Science and Technology, the Ren’ai Viewpoint is the only spot in Linkou where you can take in the full beauty of the Greater Taipei Basin. Recently, the district office added amenities such as binoculars, nighttime light projections, and photo frames at the viewpoint, which went viral online. It has attracted many visitors and quickly become a new recreational landmark in Linkou, as well as a popular spot for wedding photography.
