Last updated 2026-11-08 — The China Sports Fashion Trends Forum will reopen on January 25, 2018, at the Beijing National Convention Center. Renowned UK textile trends consultant Ms. Louisa Smith and France’s professional trend research institute PROMOSTYL will interpret color, material, ... in the sports fashion industry.

On November 1, 2017, in Xinhong International Apartments, Daning Subdistrict, Jing’an District, Shanghai, a unique community event caught residents’ attention. Hosted by Norwegian Cruise Line and co-organized by Travel + Leisure magazine and the Community Morning Post, the “True Self Holiday, Joyful Dance at Sea” Sea Square Dance Competition was officially launched here. This community-based “Sea Square Dance Competition” recruitment campaign will host 10 community events across Shanghai over the course of a month, taking place in various district neighborhoods including the neighborhood committees of Xinhong International Apartments, Hankou, New Lake Pearl City, Langao Xinyuan, Da’an Jinyuan, Jin’an, Sihu Huayu, Dongcheng No.1, Hongnan Residential Area, and Changzhong. With a novel theme, the campaign recruits through the format of a sea square dance competition, engaging high-end to mid-tier Shanghai communities. In addition to offering cost-effective cruise travel products, it also enriches the spiritual life of middle-aged and elderly residents. Each event invited local community dance teams to deliver stunning performances for the attendees. Every guest received exquisite merchandise gifts prepared by the organizers.

At each event, experienced product managers from Norwegian Cruise Line showcased the exciting experiences aboard Norwegian Joy to the attending residents. Onboard Norwegian Joy, guests are not bound by fixed dining times or formal dress codes, and can choose from a wide variety of entertainment options, including up to 28 dining choices, award-winning entertainment shows, and attentive guest services. The double-decker go-karts, water park, fantastical stage shows, high-tech entertainment center, and a massive 900-square-meter shopping mall are all ideal for family travel. After the community recruitment phase, the preliminary rounds will be held first on December 6 at the Liangcheng Subdistrict Community Activity Center, where four winning teams will be selected, each receiving a 10,000 RMB onboard fund sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line. These four winning teams will then compete during a 7-day cruise departing from Shanghai to Japan (Osaka, Kochi, Hiroshima) on December 25 to determine the champion, runner-up, and third-place winners. The prizes for this competition are generous, with cash awards for the championship team. Additionally, Norwegian Cruise Line welcomes interested individuals or dance groups to register for the competition and book their trips via the official 400 hotline.

The highlight of the event was the community square dance performances: dance teams from various neighborhoods served as performance guests at each event, showcasing their signature routines to the melodies of soothing music. Their synchronized rhythms and graceful movements won unanimous praise from the audience. Square dancing has become a popular pastime among Shanghai’s middle-aged and elderly residents, emphasizing not only physical activity and enthusiasm for exercise but also artistic beauty and a rich, healthy spiritual life. The “Sea Square Dance” competition aboard Norwegian Joy adds even more fun and excitement to the cruise experience for senior travelers, earning widespread acclaim from neighborhood participants. The highly cost-effective travel packages also attracted enthusiastic sign-ups from residents, creating a lively scene.
