Childhood memories become popular check-in spots: nostalgic photo ops at old amusement parks

Taipei’s Yuanshan Children’s Amusement Park grew up with many people. After it closed at the end of 2014 and relocated, the former playground was transformed into Yuanshan Natural Landscape Park, which reopened this June and has attracted countless visitors to stroll and take photos, recalling the joyful moments of childhood.

After the Yuanshan old children’s amusement park was rebuilt into Yuanshan Natural Landscape Park, the Ferris wheel and carousel from the old park period were preserved, becoming the most eye-catching installations in the park. They provide opportunities for reminiscing and photography. While strolling across the park’s spacious lawns, visitors are transported back to their most innocent and joyful childhoods.

The park’s embankment beautification design features a festive party of animals on the riverside wall. On the city-facing side of the dike, the walls are themed around the children's amusement park, using bright color blocks and vibrant hues to depict the Ferris wheel, chair-o-plane ride, and carousel. The large lawn area of the park is open all day, while the mountainous areas such as Yesterday World are open from 8 AM to 5 PM.

The old children’s amusement park was first established by the Japanese in 1934 and was the earliest and only government-run amusement park in Taiwan at the time. It accompanied Taipei residents for eighty years. Even though it has become history, it still holds an irreplaceable and important place in the hearts of many. In its 85th year, as a natural landscape park, parts of the original facilities have been preserved so that those wonderful memories can live on forever.
