Kaohsiung’s National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) opened last October. After 15 years of planning, construction, and preparation, it is famed for having the world’s largest single-roof theater complex and has recently been selected by TIME magazine as one of the world’s top 100 attractions, gaining international recognition.

The latest issue of TIME magazine features its selection of the “World’s Greatest Places 2019,” which includes 100 global destinations

The night view of the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) is breathtakingly beautiful.
Other winners in the same category include Tokyo’s “Mori Building Digital Art Museum” in Japan and “Disney Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” in California, USA. This marks the first time a Taiwanese attraction has been featured since TIME launched its Best Places to Visit theme in 2018.

The connecting passageways inside the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts are filled with a strong sense of technology. This is the first time a Taiwanese attraction has made the list.
The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts and Culture is not only a new landmark of Kaohsiung but also the largest arts and cultural venue in Taiwan. Surrounded by the sea, its wave-like exterior and freeform white curves resemble a giant mackerel fish, gracefully flowing into the ground and blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. The venue frequently hosts high-quality artistic performances, and travelers can also take stunning photos here.
