Tropical Storm No. 12, Podul (international name PODUL), with a central pressure of 995 hPa, at 14:00 on the 29thIts center was located at 17.4°N, 109.9°E, about 280 kilometers south of Haikou (1,240 kilometers southwest of Eluanbi), moving westward at 23 km/h (speed has slowed), with maximum sustained winds near the center at 23 m/s (83 km/h), equivalent to a Category 9 wind. The maximum gust speed reached 30 m/s (108 km/h), equivalent to a Category 11 wind..It is predicted that at 14:00 on the 30th, the center will be at 17.8°N, 104.9°E, over land about 380 kilometers southwest-southwest of Hanoi, Vietnam (1,730 kilometers southwest-southwest of Eluanbi).
