Dajianshan is the most popular leisure hiking route in Xizhi. With its towering peaks reaching into the clouds, the mountain is also planted with azaleas, cherry blossoms, and osmanthus. Every March, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom along with other flowers, butterflies flutter about, and you can enjoy distant views of Taipei’s scenic beauty—making it a favorite weekend hiking spot for many visitors.

Cherry blossoms at Tianshu Temple.
The main cherry blossom viewing spots in Dajianshan Scenic Area are located around Fuchi Villa and Zhishantianxian Temple, with trees lining the path. Among them, the cherry blossom grove at the entrance of Tiandao Jingxiu Temple is especially favored by photography enthusiasts. Azaleas along the way bloom in late spring to early summer, creating a delightful landscape.

Xizhi’s Starlight Bridge boasts a uniquely tall design resembling a microphone tower. At night, the bridge glows with a sparkling star-like effect. The 270-meter S-shaped deck offers resting spaces, while the nighttime light show complements the starry theme, with vibrant lighting that attracts many visitors and photographers.

Gongbei Temple is a renowned century-old temple. Its architecture and surrounding grounds blend traditional Chinese design with the lanterns leftover from Japan’s Nogi Shrine. In winter, when maple leaves turn red, visitors can overlook the surrounding mountains and admire the ancient bridge and temple.
