Sihlu Grand Theater is a building that has witnessed both prosperity and decline, holding historical significance and artistic value. Built in the 1940s during the Japanese colonial period, it was called "Sihlu Zu" or "Old Theater." It features a Baroque-style exterior and is located in what was once the most bustling area of Sihlu, at the public activity hub known as the "East Market."

The theater’s spatial layout is fully symmetrical left and right, with staircases on both sides. The first floor includes a stage and audience seating, with cypress mezzanine workspaces on both sides of the stage and a central cypress roof truss structure. The second floor consists of an audience seating mezzanine structure and a well-preserved projection room space, making it historically significant and part of the "Yunlin County Image History Museum" reuse plan.

The exterior façade of the theater features a pediment with air vents and louvered wooden window designs. The pediment includes Baroque washed stone moldings, additional decorative patterns, and line-patterned facing bricks, all reflecting Neo-Romanticism. However, because the property is privately owned by several individuals, it is difficult to carry out renovations or further repurposing. The beautifully decaying architectural style from a bygone era remains preserved to this day.

Sihlu Grand Theater is adjacent to the then-bustling East Market, which flourished even more during the 1960s and 1970s, earning the reputation of "Sihlu’s Shinjuku." Having witnessed the changes of the times, it has a unique charm inside and out, and the story-filled sense of faded glory attracts many visitors. Due to the aging structure, safety should be a concern.
