Summer may be over, but September is packed with concert news too—giving fans the chance to enjoy overseas artists without leaving the country. On September 6th, Japanese artists take the lead, bringing a meditative twist on music, and the first weekend also welcomes popular Korean boy band TVXQ to Taiwan for a show.

1.Kawai Kanzo
The highly-discussed monk-turned-musician “Kawai Kanzo” from Japan has loved R&B since childhood. Although he inherited the family business and became a temple monk, now serving as vice-abbot of Hai Zen Temple in Ehime Prefecture, he never gave up on music. Both a singer and composer, Kawai blends the two most intimate aspects of his life—music and religion—to reinterpret the Heart Sutra in pop and folk styles using various arrangements, opening new possibilities for religious music.

2.Hey! Say! JUMP
The idol group under Japan's Johnny & Associates, with “Hey!” representing the group’s energetic youth, and “JUMP” standing for “Johnny’s Ultra Music Power.” Established in 2007 and now entering its twelfth year, the group has achieved numerous milestones. In 2007, they became the youngest group ever to hold a concert at Tokyo Dome at an average age of 15 years and 7 months. In 2012, they held their first Asia tour, quickly gaining immense popularity across East Asia.

3. AKB48
Taiwan debut of Japan’s top idol girl group AKB48. Active since 2005 with sister groups also performing in Taiwan, this Taiwan stop features the current general manager, Mukaichi Mion, who took office on April 1, as well as Taiwanese members Ma Chia-Ling, Okabe Rin, Kuriyama Yui, Kato Rena, Yokoyama Yui, Kuramoto Narumi, Yamashita Haruka, Sakaguchi Minami, Muto Tomu, Kubo Karen, Sasaki Yukari, Fukuhara Seina, Okada Nana, Sakaguchi Natsusa, and Yamauchi Mizuki—16 members in total. This concert will also mark the first time AKB48 teams up with AKB48 Team TP on stage at Taipei Arena.
