Taitung Forest Park was formerly known as "Black Forest." Located at the mouth of the Beinan River, the entire area was planted with casuarina trees for windbreak purposes, giving the forest a dark appearance when viewed from afar, hence the name.

Taitung Forest Park is just a few minutes' drive from the city center. Its expansive grounds feature rich estuarine and coastal wetland ecology, vast grasslands, and lush forests, making it an ideal destination for healing both body and mind.

The park also has cycling paths where travelers can ride through the casuarina forest and connect three lakes: Pipa Lake, Huoshui Lake, and Egret Lake. The gentle paths are very comfortable to ride, suitable for family outings to enjoy a leisurely afternoon.

Taitung Forest Park has three lakes: Pipa Lake, formed by underground springs; Egret Lake, originally a swamp that was later restored; and Huoshui Lake, an artificial lake that hosts various water sports and triathlon competitions.
