New version of the leopard cat artwork debuts on a colorful train! The Zhushan Town Art Festival has arrived

The leopard cat and banana-themed colorful train "National Zhushan Art Museum" on the Jiji Branch Line of Taiwan Railways, which recently caused a stir over its design, has been officially put into service on September 18 after the patterns were redrawn by the designer. In addition to the new Taiwanese leopard cat design, the train also features a Russian version of the leopard cat illustrated by Russian artist Katya Morozova.

The controversy over the leopard cat designs on the train prompted the enthusiastic Russian illustrator Morozova to create a set of leopard cat illustrations for public use by Taiwan and conservation groups. The Ministry of Transportation also specially invited Morozova to Taiwan to attend the train’s inauguration ceremony on the 18th. The new carriages have been redecorated with both the Taiwanese and Russian versions of the leopard cat. The four carriages follow a “Taiwan, Russia, Taiwan, Russia” sequence, allowing passengers to easily enjoy both the Taiwanese and Russian versions of the leopard cat-themed colorful train.

And at Zhushan Railway Station, the “Town Art Festival” will be held over two consecutive weekends on September 21, 22, 28, and 29. A series of events titled “Town Patrol Parade” will kick off in front of Zhushan Railway Station, featuring selected classic local attractions strung together into two parade routes. Each stop offers different performances, with 6 parade shows, 12 local expert-guided tours, and 10 performance troupes, exploring the stories of this town twenty years after the 921 Earthquake.
