"Hell on earth, heaven in the heart!" On May 15, 2018, with the successful return of the last Jeep Wrangler to Beijing, the over-month-long Jeep Outdoor “Time Travelers” Tibet Adventure – Mysterious Ali event came to a successful conclusion. Jointly organized by Jeep Outdoor and the Beijing Jeep Wrangler Off-Road Club, the journey started from Beijing to Tibet, traversed the Ali Plateau, exited via Xinjiang, and returned to Beijing, covering a total distance of over 13,000 kilometers. It crossed various terrains including snow-capped mountains, canyons, glaciers, forests, permafrost, and meadows, overcoming challenges such as high-altitude hypoxia and geological disasters, while enjoying breathtaking scenery.

The event was divided into three stages. The first stage started from Beijing, entered National Highway 318 via Ya’an, and continued to Lhasa, covering a total of 3,900 kilometers. The Ya’an to Lhasa section is the famous southern route of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, traversing the historic Tea Horse Road. Along the way, it crosses the Hengduan Mountains and Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, featuring towering peaks, dense river valleys, winding roads, as well as complex and changeable weather and frequent geological disasters, making it one of the “most dangerous roads in the world.” With four seasons in a single day, diverse terrains such as snow-capped mountains, glaciers, canyons, and dense forests create ever-changing natural landscapes, making it a world-class scenic route.

The second stage started from Lhasa, passed through the northern edge of Qiangtang on the northern route of Ali, turned onto the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway to Yecheng in Xinjiang, covering a total of 3,740 kilometers. It traversed some of the most magnificent regions in western China, truly venturing deep into the northern Tibet uninhabited area. Most of the route is above 4,500 meters in altitude, characterized by year-round cold, dryness, strong winds, and oxygen scarcity. The climate is extremely harsh, but when one after another snow-capped mountain, sacred lake (“cuo”), and free-roaming wildlife such as Tibetan antelopes, wild asses, and snow leopards suddenly appear before your eyes, you truly experience the vastness of the wilderness and the grandeur of nature.

The third stage covered the Pamir Plateau in Kashgar, Xinjiang, along the southern Xinjiang route to the southern edge of the Lop Nur Desert, crossing the eastern end of the Kunlun Mountains and the Altyn-Tagh Range, traversing the Qaidam Basin, and returning to Beijing from Xining, covering a total of 5,830 kilometers. This segment showcases the Father of Snow Mountains — Muztagh Ata, China’s westernmost village — Shimianhua, the Taklamakan Desert, and the unique landscapes of the western Qinghai wilderness.

In the city, Jeepers are practical individuals who love life and dare to take on challenges; in Tibet, they become “Time Travelers” who dare to push their own limits. Jeep Outdoor apparel demonstrates its vitality in extreme environments. Whether facing sudden wind, rain, or snow, or dealing with temperature changes while climbing mountains, Jeep Outdoor delivers outstanding performance in waterproofing, windproofing, moisture permeability, and breathability. It accompanied the Jeep Outdoor adventurers throughout their off-road journey in Tibet, turning passion into reality with true capability.

Freedom, passion, and adventure. Since its launch in 2017, the Jeep Outdoor “Time Travelers” series has held four events. The heat of summer deserts in Inner Mongolia, the silence of winter ice fields, the rich autumn hues of southern Xinjiang, and the sacred mountains and waters of Ali in Tibet—all have awakened the adventurous spirit within Jeepers. They go off-roading for freedom and conquest, for boundless vitality, and for the thrill of the wild.
