Busy workdays can be overwhelming, and on weekends, you just want to get out of the city and escape the hustle and bustle. Hsinchu not only boasts diverse landscapes but also features various nature parks and forest recreation areas. Here are six nature-based attractions where you can go for a weekend getaway, take some great photos, and enjoy a healing experience.

The Frog Rock Skywalk, with a total walking distance of about 1,500 meters, offers views of cascading waterfalls and mountain valley ecology. At the end of the walkway is a suspended glass viewing platform with an arc shape, surrounded by greenery, where you can fully admire the beauty of the waterfall and towering cliffs.

The Beidalaman Sacred Trees are located in the mountains around Bird’s Beak Mountain in Jianshi, at an altitude of over 1,300 meters. They are the lowest-altitude known group of Taiwan red cypress giants in Taiwan, and have only recently become known to the public. Currently, there are only about one to two hundred remaining cypress trees in the Beidalaman mountain area, among which four publicly accessible giant trees are referred to as the Beidalaman Sacred Tree Group, with their massive trunks being a magnificent sight.

A forest hidden gem in Hsinchu’s Guanxi, the Mawudu Exploration Forest is located within a Tayal tribal area. The expansive park nurtures a diverse and ever-changing natural ecological environment. Covering an area of over 400 hectares and situated at an altitude of approximately 1,749 meters, it boasts abundant natural resources and scenic beauty that rival those of Alishan, Xitou, and Shanlinxi.

Guanwu is located at the border between Wufeng Township in Hsinchu County and Tai’an Township in Miaoli County. The area is often shrouded in sea of clouds and mist, earning it the nickname “Home of Clouds.” The journey offers beautiful and enchanting scenery, with drifting sea of clouds that appear and disappear in the distance, showcasing the grandeur of nature. Guanwu Recreation Area sits at an altitude of about 1,800 meters and is the best starting point and essential stop for viewing Daba Jian Mountain. It features multiple forest trails and is home to many unique or endangered plant and animal species found only in Taiwan and the world.
