The Kavieng Waterfall has a trail that winds up along the Ashiwen River through valleys and cliffs. Along the way, you can listen to the murmuring stream, gaze at the lush green valleys, and admire indigenous totem carvings on the guardrails, full of Paiwan cultural charm. The final viewpoint offers the best panoramic view of the waterfall, which has a drop of about 40 meters. The water cascades down from the cliff in a beautiful fan-shaped flow.

Located in Pingtung’s Liangshan Recreation Area, within the scope of the Maolin National Scenic Area, the site offers not only magnificent mountain and forest scenery but also many playful art installations. One of the popular Instagram spots: the Hobbit House — a tiny house with colorful doors that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie scene when taking photos. It’s truly fun and charming.

Tucked away in a tribal community in Kenting, the “Shuiwa Cave Eco Community” features a vast grassland. In summer, the field is lush green, resembling the pastures of Europe. But come winter, the once emerald grass turns into a barren earth-toned landscape. Surrounded by what seems like a wasteland, standing in the wide-open grassland brings a strong sense of winter’s stark beauty.

Located on the eastern side of Dongyuan Tribe, the Floating Prairie is called “pudung” in the Paiwan language, meaning “corner.” Locals regard this area as a taboo zone for the tribe. Within this region, wetland plants grow densely over waterlogged muddy grounds, creating a unique floating prairie landscape. The Floating Prairie and Dongyuan Forest Recreation Area both belong to the Dongyuan Wetlands, boasting rich biodiversity of flora and fauna.
