Japan—It has been confirmed that the consumption tax for tourists visiting Japan will be raised from the original 8% to 10% starting October 1. Following this news, not only has the consumption tax been increased, but many popular tourist attractions in Kyoto, a top destination in Japan, have also adjusted their ticket prices, leading to higher travel budgets for trips to Japan.

Traveling in Japan will see increases in food, beverage, and transportation costs, but if you choose to take out food, the consumption tax remains at 8%. If you purchase cosmetics or consumer goods totaling 5,000 yen, you can still enjoy tax exemption at stores with a tax refund system.

Kyoto Tower, an iconic landmark in Kyoto, is one of the must-visit spots for many tourists traveling to Kyoto. The ticket price at Kyoto Tower has been recently announced to increase, effective September 30, to 800 yen.

Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kyoto, is an important tourist destination known for its classic historical architecture and cultural treasures within. Starting October, the entrance fee for Nijo Castle will be raised from 1,000 yen to 1,030 yen.

Toei Kyoto Studio Park, a movie-themed theme park in Kyoto that serves as the filming location for many Japanese TV dramas and movies, has also announced that ticket prices will be adjusted from the original 2,200 yen to 2,400 yen.
