Remember the craze when Laurel’s upgraded 2.0 matcha-flavored glutinous rice balls, the “Naruko Matcha Rice Balls,” sold out in freezers everywhere and flooded Instagram in 2017? Now, Laurel rice balls have become a must-have winter dessert for matcha fans. This time, the two brands join forces again — not only maintaining high product quality but also focusing on delivering a new experience, aiming to create matcha rice balls loved by all ages.

In recent years, aside from its popular large-sized rice balls, Laurel’s filled mini rice balls have seen growing sales thanks to their easy-to-eat nature, showcasing how Laurel makes after-dinner desserts simple to prepare and enjoyable for the whole family. In addition to the classic peanut and sesame flavors favored by many housewives, this winter’s brand collaboration goes further with the launch of the “Naruko Matcha-Filled Glutinous Rice Balls” and the “Naruko Japanese Dual Delight Sweet Soup Set,” bringing warmth and happiness to winter gatherings through Laurel’s rice balls.

The star product, “Naruko Matcha-Filled Glutinous Rice Balls,” follows traditional methods using glutinous rice from the Zhuoshui River, resulting in chewy outer skins and molten, creamy fillings. The rich, mellow flavor of matcha bursts in your mouth, offering a three-in-one taste experience: “bitter, sweet, and intense.” The other product, the “Naruko Japanese Dual Delight Sweet Soup Set,” draws inspiration from the Japanese film “Meoto Zenzai,” where a single bowl of red bean soup is split into two — meant to be shared by couples or lovers as a symbol of harmony and fulfillment. The chestnut red bean soup uses two different types of red beans: No. 3 or No. 4 for the base to enhance aroma and layered flavor, and No. 10 red beans are added whole for texture, along with a touch of chestnuts for added richness. Just heat gently in hot water and thaw slightly to enjoy — quick and convenient. Add Naruko Matcha-Filled Glutinous Rice Balls for the perfect finish.

Starting October 1st, these products will be available successively at major supermarkets, PX Mart, and 7-Eleven. The Naruko Matcha-Filled Glutinous Rice Balls (200g/box) are priced at NT$75, and the Naruko Japanese Dual Delight Sweet Soup Set (720g/box) is priced at NT$245. Promotional prices may vary depending on the retailer.
