Located on Shimei Old Street in Jinsha Township, Kinmen — one of the oldest streets in Kinmen with a history of several hundred years — this street features many traditional Min-style buildings. As time passed, many gradually fell into disrepair. However, a particular cluster of crumbling houses was revitalized and gained viral fame online for its unique exotic charm.

The earthen-yellow broken walls and ruins are remnants of a time long past. Resembling a forsaken desert city of a Middle Eastern nation, this cluster of decaying buildings has resurfaced in people’s memories, exuding a Middle Eastern atmosphere that draws countless young visitors for pilgrimage and photos.

Owing to its unique desert-city beauty, it’s earned the nickname “Taiwan’s Little Morocco,” as if stepping into a time tunnel where you lose track of the present day. This little Morocco is located behind “Changhe Pastry Shop” near Shimei Old Street. If you have a chance to visit Kinmen, take a detour down the alley to discover another hidden world.
