So stunning it’s been upgraded to a bridal photography hotspot—Taiwan’s top four universities with European-style architecture

Taiwan has a wide variety of universities, each with its own unique characteristics. Among them, four universities are particularly famous for their European-style architecture. Strolling through their expansive campuses and catching a glimpse of exotic-looking school buildings is surely one of the most memorable aspects of university life for many students, and the romantic scenes have also attracted many bridal shoots to use them as backdrops.

1. Tamkang University
Located in Tamsui, Tamkang University is a Christian institution with historical architecture. One of its buildings is a traditional Minnan-style quadrangle that incorporates a Christian chapel. It is the Oxford College built in the 19th century when Dr. George Leslie Mackay came to Taiwan to preach and introduce Western education. Across from it stands a grand chapel built in 1997. With its brick-red exterior complementing the nearby Fort San Domingo, the historic campus has become a famous attraction in Tamsui.

2. Asia University
Located in Wufeng, Taichung, Asia University has become a popular spot for aesthetic photos and bridal shoots in central Taiwan, thanks to its many distinctive buildings. In addition to works by Japanese architect Tadao Ando and concrete structures with impressive spatial design, the campus also features school buildings inspired by ancient Roman architecture—stately and beautiful, as if situated in a grand European museum complex, adding plenty of talking points to the area.

3. Tatung University
Located within Taipei city proper, Tatung University features an ancient European-style building called the Shang-Zhi Memorial Hall, which draws inspiration from the Pantheon in Rome. The six large columns in front of the hall make the scene appear even more sacred and majestic. Inside the courtyard garden, there are two pools, while the side features a colonnade of short pillars and office spaces. The site attracts many film and TV productions as well as wedding photographers, but the general public must first obtain a pass to enter.
