The Dragon and Phoenix Waterfall Skywalk in Zhongliao Township, Nantou, has announced it will cease operations from October 31 due to safety concerns and financial losses, leaving many visitors shocked and saddened.

The “Dragon Waterfall” and “Phoenix Waterfall” of Zhongliao’s Dragon and Phoenix Waterfalls are unique local attractions. The Dragon Waterfall features a powerful flow and majestic presence, while the Phoenix Waterfall offers a gentle trickle, exuding softness. The proximity of the two waterfalls creates a distinctive scenic experience. The Dragon and Phoenix Waterfall Skywalk allows visitors to overlook the cascades from above, enjoying a unique view of the falls. Now, news of its closure has left netizens disappointed.

The Dragon and Phoenix Waterfall Skywalk is suspended 50 meters above the ground, offering thrilling views of the waterfall.
Modeled after the Grand Canyon Skywalk in the U.S., the Dragon and Phoenix Waterfall Skywalk features a transparent, suspension-free “U”-shaped walkway over 30 meters long, extending 13 meters beyond the waterfall and about 40–50 meters above the ground. Walking on the transparent path feels like strolling through the air, delivering an exhilarating experience.

Due to ongoing losses and the inability to maintain or repair the walkway, coupled with safety concerns, the decision has been made to close at the end of the month.
In recent years, the Dragon and Phoenix Waterfall Skywalk has not only faced financial losses but also structural issues such as minor cracks in the bridge. The local government lacks the funds for repairs. Recently, it was announced that the skywalk will close starting October 31, and any free tickets already issued can be used until October 30, 2019; they will be void afterward.
