Tokyo’s New Shibuya Landmark: The Highest Open-Air Observation Deck Opens

The highest open-air observation deck in Shibuya, “SHIBUYA SKY” (渋谷スカイ), situated in the mixed-use skyscraper “SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE (渋谷スクランブルスクエア)” right above Shibuya Station, is the highest and most expansive open-air observation area in Shibuya and Japan. It opened to the public on November 1.

More than just a place for viewing, the observation facility offers an “open feeling” through three zones — the ascending space “SKY GATE,” the open-air observation platform “SKY STAGE,” and the indoor observation corridor “SKY GALLERY” — allowing visitors to fully enjoy the vastness of open spaces.

A variety of spatial arrangements and activities are offered, providing unobstructed views of the iconic Shibuya “Scramble Crossing.” The sky is adorned with 18 searchlights, and you can lie on a net and gaze up at the sky. From the highest point of the Shibuya observation deck, enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view and experience a feeling of unity with the sky, delivering a powerful sense of “breaking free from constraints.”
