Here are six nature-themed spots where you can take stunning photos and unwind this weekend for a dose of healing.

Located on the National Trail at Our Lady’s Mountain Villa in Jiaoxi, Yilan, the entrance is near the well-known Five Flags Peak Waterfall. With an elevation gain of about 700 meters, it’s a bit challenging, but the view from the top is absolutely worth it. The summit’s viewing platform offers an unobstructed 360-degree panorama, where you can take in the entire Lanyang Plain. Looking toward Pinglin in the distance, you’ll see layers of mountain peaks resembling an ink-wash painting—truly picturesque and mesmerizing.

Taipingshan in Yilan was once a hub for the forestry industry, with many forest railways built around the mountains to transport timber. The Jianqing Nostalgic Trail is a remnant of this logging history. Unlike most of the forest railways and cable cars from that era, which have been lost to time, the preserved Jianqing Nostalgic Railway feels like a time capsule.

Every autumn and winter, the sweet flag grass along the Lanyang River near Tayi Bridge bursts into bloom, its white flower spikes swaying in the wind like falling snow, creating a silvery-white wonderland that is both spectacular and beautiful. For the best shots, visit in the early morning, late evening, or around sunrise and sunset when the grass takes on a golden hue, offering softer lighting and more delicate colors.

Located in the middle reaches of the Anong River in Sanchong Township, near the right bank of Tianxin Bridge, two rows of bald cypress trees were planted during the river’s earlier restoration. Over time, these trees have grown into a lush forest, standing tall on the verdant grass, leaving visitors in awe.
