On February 20, Zhang Jinghua, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, conducted research on the development of the sports industry in Nanjing. During the visit, Zhang inspected enterprises and institutions such as Biancheng Sports Co., Ltd. to gain firsthand understanding of their operations and industry development. He also held a symposium to hear work reports from relevant departments, districts, and sports enterprises.
During the research, Zhang Jinghua pointed out that in recent years, the scale of Nanjing’s sports industry has continued to expand, its structure has been continuously optimized, and multiple indicators have improved in ranking, making positive contributions to enhancing the city’s influence and promoting high-quality development at the forefront. However, it must be clearly recognized that compared with the city’s positioning and advanced regions, there are still significant gaps in terms of industry scale, enterprise development, effective supply, and brand building. It is necessary to strengthen the awareness of benchmarking and striving for advancement, adhere to a problem-oriented approach, conduct comprehensive research and analysis, promptly develop development plans and support policies, plan systematically, implement targeted measures, and effectively improve the quality, efficiency, and level of sports industry development.
Zhang Jinghua noted that efforts should be made to enhance industrial competitiveness by optimizing the industrial structure, extending the industrial chain, improving the industrial layout, strengthening carrier construction, and accelerating the formation of a rational, fully functional, and comprehensive sports industry system. Efforts should also be made to boost resource aggregation capacity by giving full play to the decisive role of the market and better leveraging the role of the government, strengthening market entities, cultivating leading enterprises, focusing on major projects, revitalizing existing resources, and promoting the integrated development of the sports industry with “Internet+” and related sectors. In addition, efforts should be made to elevate urban influence by fostering branded events to support the development of an international city, developing smart sports to contribute to an innovative city, and deepening mass sports to assist in building a livable city, thereby making the sports industry a shining urban calling card for Nanjing.
