        In the warm spring of March, flowers are in full bloom. On March 17, the 2019 Poly Shixiang Lake Tulip Tourism Festival “Colorful Life Season” and “Colorful Life · Family Yoga Class,” jointly organized by Poly Shixiang Lake and co-hosted by the Chengdu Yoga Industry Association, officially commenced at the Shixiang Lake scenic area. Fifty parent-child families came together to enjoy quality time amidst the forest, flower seas, and lakeside.

Kick Off a New Way of Colorful Living

The Poly Shixiang Lake scenic area is located in Pujiang County, Chengdu, and is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. Covering a total area of 12,000 mu, it boasts two major lakes—Miaoyin Lake and Shixiang Lake—and has a forest coverage rate of over 90%. Its exceptional natural ecology is like a piece of jade embedded in the Chengdu Plain.

Leveraging its unique resources, the scenic area blends world-class premium flowers with outdoor gardening to create a large-scale, fully open-air premium flower destination. Based on flowering seasons, it carefully designs various themed flower festivals across the four seasons. In spring, there’s the Shixiang Lake Tulip Tourism Festival; in summer, the Shixiang Lake Sunflower Tourism Festival; in autumn, the Shixiang Lake Lily Tourism Festival; and in winter, the Shixiang Lake New Year Flower Exhibition. Beyond early spring tulips and daffodils, visitors can also enjoy festive red lanterns, Chinese knots, and lively New Year activities.

As the star of this season’s flower festival, tulips naturally take center stage. Planted in their natural outdoor environment, vast fields of high-quality, photogenic tulips stretch as far as the eye can see. Currently in full bloom, there are over 200 varieties—available in solid or mixed colors, bright or deep tones. Notably, Shixiang Lake was among the first in China to introduce tulip bulbs from the Netherlands and engage in large-scale outdoor cultivation and display. Since the inaugural Shixiang Lake Tulip Festival in 2002, it has been successfully held for 18 consecutive years. The Shixiang Lake Tulip Festival has become an iconic feature of the scenic area and a shining image ambassador.

Of course, Shixiang Lake offers more than just tulips. Daffodils, violet oxalis, Icelandic poppies, German irises, and snapdragons will also bloom simultaneously or successively between March and May. Additionally, as a comprehensive tourist destination, Shixiang Lake centers around its forest, lake, and flower sea resources. On the foundation of large-scale outdoor sightseeing, it continuously improves infrastructure, introduces more experiences, and enriches visitors’ “colorful life” at Shixiang Lake.

The Scenic Area Unveils Another Major Event

Following the 2016 Shixiang Lake inaugural “Flower Sea Buddhist Realm” Forest Yoga and Meditation Experience, and the 2017 Shixiang Lake Forest 10,000-Person Yoga Challenge, on March 17 this year, Shixiang Lake once again seamlessly integrates yoga elements with its natural landscape, warmly launching the “Colorful Life” Family Yoga Class. Numerous visitors enjoyed the pleasure brought by the natural scenery while embracing an aerobic, healthy, and heartwarming lifestyle.

Yesterday morning, 50 parent-child families recruited by the Chengdu Yoga Industry Association gathered at the Shixiang Lake scenic area. With flowers as the medium and love as the guide, they enjoyed parent-child joy through interactive experiences such as practicing yoga together, admiring flowers, and taking creative photos in themed frames.

“I like it here, but I like coming to play with mom and dad even more,” said Tongtong, a 6-year-old girl who participated in the event. She often practices yoga with her mother at a yoga studio, but this was her first time doing yoga outdoors with her mom. She found it both novel and special. “Every photo taken here is a masterpiece!” In addition, the leading yoga instructor noted that this event was a rare experience—not only allowing participants to benefit from the natural advantages of the outdoors to feel more relaxed and agile, but also helping to strengthen parent-child relationships and emotions. “For all parent-child families, this is an unforgettable memory.”

As the breeze blew, colorful tulips swayed gently, accompanied by the fragrance of flowers in the air. Many visitors stopped to watch the parent-child yoga interaction. Some young men and women even joined in, stretching alongside others to experience this modern fitness trend. Smiles and laughter spread warmth, love, and friendship throughout the scenic area.

In addition, to meet the needs of various yoga and outdoor fitness enthusiasts, Poly Shixiang Lake leveraged its resource advantages during the “Colorful Life Experience Season.” In collaboration with the Chengdu Yoga Industry Association and the Chengdu Yoga Industry Alliance, it proudly launched the “Colorful Life · Premium Yoga Class.” Not only will interactive classes be held on March 23, 30, April 6, 13, 20, and 27 within the scenic area, but nationally renowned yoga instructors will also be invited to provide free lessons to visitors at the site.
