This 5th Baojing Vinegar · Vinegar Culture Festival, with the original intention of “experiencing, understanding, and spreading vinegar culture,” extends an invitation to people nationwide, aiming to help more individuals know, appreciate, and understand vinegar.
Push open the historical gate of the main venue, and the vicissitudes of Vinegar Workshop Street come vividly into view. The calls of vendors in the market area, the chants of artisans, and the rich aroma of vinegar wafting through the streets will transport you back in time, allowing you to personally experience the millennia-old vinegar culture and craftsmanship. Not far away, a robust young man is continuously stirring fermented mash, ensuring its full aeration and fermentation by recalling his master’s teaching to let nature take its course. Meanwhile, a master vinegar artisan nearby is sealing freshly fermented vinegar – that gentle cover might seal in thirty years of maturation.
Approaching the Vinegar Culture Worship Ceremony, the 15th-generation heir of Baojing Vinegar is about to open the jars of this year’s newly brewed vinegar, conducting a grand Eastern Sichuan ritual to pray for good weather and prosperity for the local people. This also symbolizes the enduring legacy and continuous inheritance of Baojing Vinegar’s traditional techniques.
Moving further along, those who have completed the ceremony sing and dance joyfully. Traditional folk activities such as the Lion Plucking Greens, Worshipping Guanyin, Hanging Blessings, and Serving Tea carry unique charm, blending seamlessly into the lively festive atmosphere.
