The 2019 Beijing International Long-Distance Running Festival—Beijing Half Marathon will start at 7:00 AM on Sunday, April 14. Preparations for the event are now complete. Compared to last year, this year’s Beijing Half Marathon has undergone multiple upgrades and is linked with the Beijing Marathon. Achieving a certain ranking in the Beijing Half Marathon qualifies participants for direct entry into the Beijing Marathon.

It is reported that 20,000 domestic and international runners will participate in this year’s event. The race will start at Tiananmen Square, passing through Xicheng District, Dongcheng District, Chaoyang District, and other areas, with the finish line at the Celebration Plaza in the Olympic Park Central Area. The organizers have strived to present the best of the city’s cultural landscape while ensuring optimal track conditions, offering participants an excellent racing experience.

Preparations for the Beijing Half Marathon are now complete

Following the standards of the Beijing Marathon, this year’s Beijing Half Marathon will, for the first time, implement staggered starting positions based on registered race times, divided into three assembly zones—A, B, and C—for check-in, effectively alleviating congestion on the course. In terms of logistical support, the organizing committee has set up a water station every 2.5 kilometers from the 5-kilometer to the 20-kilometer mark, providing a total of 130,000 bottles of drinking water and energy drinks. Aid stations along the route will also offer ample bananas, pastries, and more, along with over 600 toilets, 5 sanitation service stations, 10 medical points, 18 ambulances and rescue motorcycles, and more than 100 medical personnel. To promote a clean and environmentally friendly event atmosphere, the organizing committee will place numerous trash bins and recycling stations at functional sites, and deploy 120 dedicated volunteers to assist sanitation workers in keeping the course tidy at all times—creating an event image characterized by “capital elegance, national marathon quality, and green freshness.”
