The “2015 Taiwan Summer Solstice 235” festival has chosen “Soothing” as its theme this year and is calling on grass jelly shops across Taiwan to participate in the “Soothing Grass Jelly” vote. Starting May 25, the public can cast their votes online for their favorite shops.

According to the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the organizing body, after the Taiwanese public voted “grass jelly” as the most representative summer food in 2013, a “chatting about grass jelly (Chat-Yu)” trend has gradually emerged nationwide every summer. On a hot day, enjoying a refreshing bowl of grass jelly or sipping a specially mixed grass jelly drink is definitely one of the best choices for the season.

For this year’s Soothing Grass Jelly online competition, the Tourism Bureau has also launched a limited tasting event where participants can try special soothing grass jelly products for just NT$1, aiming to create a new summer movement where grass jelly becomes a must-eat treat in Taiwan.

All participants in the voting have the chance to win VIP entry tickets to three major theme parks: E-DA Theme Park, Janfusun Fancyworld, and Leofoo Ocean Park, among other major prizes. The online voting period runs from May 25 to June 28, 2015.
