"In the 20th century, there were only two places on Earth that achieved significant growth in wildlife populations—North America and South Africa. These successful conservation stories were built on the foundation of hunting..."

—Dr. Rosie Cooney, IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature)

Su Shi’s famous poem “Jiangchengzi·Out Hunting in Mizhou” depicts a grand hunting scene: “I’d draw my bow like a full moon, look northwest, and shoot down the Wolf of Heaven.” The ancient passion for hunting is vividly portrayed. Hunting was once one of the most important productive activities for human survival and development, and has now evolved into a modern sport rich in cultural significance.

Some may hold the view that hunting leads to the extinction of wildlife, but in fact, legal and scientific hunting can actually promote the healthy development of wildlife populations and is a leading force globally in supporting wildlife conservation. Hunting often tests one’s wisdom, courage, and perseverance, and requires hunters to love nature, integrate with it, and experience the close relationship between humans and the wild. Through hunting, hunters become familiar with different animal species and their habits, gaining diverse outdoor survival experiences and hunting expertise in various environments. Of course, hunters also bear the responsibility of maintaining healthy wildlife populations, ensuring they remain a renewable resource for generations to come.

There are many renowned hunting destinations around the world that attract enthusiasts time and again. Europe, the birthplace of modern hunting, mainly offers deer and wild boar hunts, while the UK has long-standing traditions such as fox hunting and Pheasant shooting—the latter being particularly famous. North America is a paradise for hunters, where you can pursue fierce animals like grizzly bears, black bears, and mountain lions, as well as native species such as reindeer, white-tailed deer, elk, pronghorn, ducks, and pheasants. In “Middle-earth” New Zealand, there are two hunting options: experiential hunting on local farms targeting affordable game, which is generally not suitable for taxidermy, and professional hunting, where SCI (Safari Club International)-rated red deer are the top choice for seasoned hunters—the larger and more branched the antlers, the higher the grade. South Africa is a hunting paradise, offering dozens of game species. Affordable Plains game hunting provides great value, while Dangerous game hunting presents more challenges, allowing you to hunt iconic animals like lions, elephants, rhinos, and hippos—thrilling and worthy of any adventurer’s bucket list. Moreover, South Africa is world-renowned for its taxidermy craftsmanship, and having your hunting trophies preserved is one of the greatest desires for many visiting hunters.

But this summer, there’s no need to travel far. From June 20–23, 2019, Shanghai BaoHui International Exhibition Co., Ltd., in collaboration with WILDER, the international hunting industry service trading platform, will leverage the professional platform of Lifestyle Shanghai Show to create the first domestic hunting tourism-themed exhibition (Hunting Show), aiming to promote the development of hunting sports and culture in China.
