These days, my headphones have been on loop with Happy Birthday by The Face. No doubt, the afterglow of the 720 music festival was truly intense. Even with pre-booked tickets, the nearly 4,000-strong crowd went wild in an instant, heating up just like the sweltering heat of Beijing in July.

Following their appearance on "The Summer of Bands," the 720 concert marked The Face Band’s first show and garnered much attention. Die-hard fans from Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Chengdu made the trip to Beijing just to raise their hands with The Face. The pulsating melodies turned the 20°C valley into a 100°C soundwave—soaring, boiling, exploding together.

Now that you’re here, drop the urban mindset and leave your adult anxieties behind. Follow the crowds heading into nature, hike the big lawn, set up your gear, and stake your claim for these two days. Hey, beautiful girls taking lawn selfies—wait up for me.

What band is rehearsing on the distant stage? First dilemma: pose for photos or take a chance and try to snag a group photo with the band? Maybe even get the lead singer’s autograph.

This year’s camping season features lawn meals and a mountain food market tailored especially for the music festival—pizza, burgers, Subway, BBQ cookouts… Seasonal delights infused with mountain vibes. Dig in and enjoy.

The mountain breeze is just right. The little rascals napping in tents—how many days a year do they get to dream so down-to-earth? Next tent over, a pretty girl strums a familiar childhood tune, her eyes full of campus memories.

Climbing trees, catching cicadas, fishing, chasing dogs… As kids, we called it speaking without inhibition; our playmates, innocent friends. Remember those mischievous little things we did as children? Reliving them on the big lawn—no one wants to miss that.

When the sunset completes its magnificent turn and the valley darkens, that’s the signal. Stake your spot early, wait for the bands to take the stage, count down with the crowd—3, 2, 1—and let the rock chaos begin.

Burn, bonfire, keep up with the DJ’s beat, stomp out youthful steps, cheers, fireworks finale, shining stars illuminating our unfinished dreams.

As the crowd disperses, crawl into the tent and tell the little rascal the story of the Big Dipper. A great day ends with a goodnight to the starry sky.

How long has it been since you were woken by the sounds of nature? Don’t linger too long in the tent—the blazing sun after dawn won’t offer any cool mercy. Now’s the time for a hearty Sea Castle breakfast to recharge. The line is long, but patience pays off.

For your second day in the valley, start with a visit to 1473 outside the east gate. This iconic scenic spot known as the love sanctuary is full of surprises. Don’t forget to look for the famous dog at the summit and snap a TikTok video—experience viral fame like never before.

Chasing the golden-red sunset, I prepare to descend the mountain. Scenes flash through my mind one after another — a knowing smile spreads as I recall my childlike self over these two days. There’s an indescribably sweet feeling, just so comfortable.

Sometimes, it’s not that we don’t want to grow up, it’s that we’re afraid of drifting too far from that vitality, authenticity, and fearlessness money can’t buy... So far that we even forget they still exist.

These days, even songs ask, “Where has the time gone? We grow old before fully experiencing youth...”  No, no, listen closely — it won’t happen that way. Not this summer, not in Haituo Valley. We won’t let you doubt yourself.
