Dialogue? 2019 Exhibitors | The Future Looks Bright, See You at the 15th Asian Outdoor Exhibition!

On June 30, 2019, the 14th Asia Outdoor Exhibition came to a successful close. This year, the total indoor and outdoor exhibition area reached 48,000 square meters, with 312 brands participating. Over the four-day event, it attracted 16,731 professional visitors from China, Turkey, the Netherlands, Ukraine, South Korea, Hong Kong and other regions.

This edition of the Asian Outdoor Exhibition pioneered a three-dimensional exhibition format combining a professional trade show with an outdoor carnival, creating a comprehensive IP for value-driven content in the outdoor industry. It organically linked B2B exhibition displays with B2C marketing methods. As the first attempt in the 14-year history of the Asian Outdoor Exhibition, it received support and high expectations from exhibitors.

Exhibitors’ Insights on the B2B2C Model

MOBI GARDEN Marketing Manager Bao Kai: Because outdoor in China has gone through different stages of development, and now with the popularization of rock climbing and skiing, the gap between outdoor and the general public is gradually narrowing. So outdoor is not as unapproachable as it used to be. In the past, it might have required some B2B users to educate consumers, but now with the development of the internet, consumers have easier access to information. It’s entirely possible to go directly to B2C, skipping some B2B stages. This way, information can flow both ways, and we can also get direct feedback from consumers about what they like in our products, so we can create items that are more appealing to them.

FIRE-MAPLE Domestic Sales Director Zhang Xiaoyu: The B2B2C approach is an innovation for the Asian Outdoor Exhibition, and it’s a great combination. We’re especially happy to bring a new approach and experience to our dealers, outdoor enthusiasts, and end customers, making it easier for everyone to get involved with outdoor activities. This is something that manufacturers and outdoor brands pay close attention to.

33000ft Brand Director Wang Xuming: Currently, most people who engage in outdoor activities are professionals or part of small groups or organized by influencers. We also offer private customization, and there are gear platforms that specialize in this—we’re working with them. We’re also organizing direct-to-consumer experiences both online and offline ourselves.

KAILAS PR & Events Manager Zhao Zong: I think it’s great to do both B2B and B2C models. On one hand, dealers and major clients get to understand our brand and our latest R&D products. The B2C model allows us to better connect with consumers. Given today’s fast-paced and information-driven environment, the B2C sales model is very popular, so being able to directly engage with consumers and understand their needs is very important. Plus, this creates a good closed loop from demand, to product development, to how we serve consumers.

TENTOP Brand Operations Director Jin Hai: Achieving B2B2C is a great direction for development. The traditional model has changed dramatically. The cost of acquiring customers online and retaining them offline is getting higher. By transforming its model, the Asian Outdoor Exhibition allows brands to directly face C-end consumers. The exhibition is considering this step from the brand’s perspective, which is a great innovation. With this in mind, the Asian Outdoor Exhibition, brands, and customers can be effectively connected in the future.

Osprey Marketing Manager Li Ting?: From our new product series, you can see that we aim to meet the increasingly open and mature domestic outdoor market. We hope professional products can also be effectively used in everyday outings, which aligns with the goals of the Asian Outdoor Exhibition’s B2B2C experiment. We hope to interact more directly with young customers interested in sports, leisure, and urban casual activities on the platform of the Asian Outdoor Exhibition and the carnival, and to strengthen our brand presence.

KEIS Sales General Manager Gui Jia: I think this is great. The carnival gives consumers more opportunities to understand the application scenarios of the products. Also, the exhibition used to focus only on attracting dealers, just exhibiting without selling. But through the carnival model, it increases consumer brand loyalty, lets them understand the practicality of products through usage scenarios, and helps them use the products better. It’s a new model—we’re willing to learn more and hope to integrate further.

AORUI Brand Operations Director Cui Yu: I think this innovative model at this exhibition is particularly good. In the traditional industry, manufacturers dealt directly with dealers and couldn’t face customers directly. This year’s innovative model gives us a way to directly engage with customers, so we can directly understand what users need. This approach is really excellent.

KURAN General Manager Ma Yuzhou: I think this idea is very good because the outdoors is meant to be fun, and it needs young people and new participants to join in. The carnival’s B2C approach is a cool way for many young people to learn about, participate in, and experience the outdoors.

Since entering China in 2006, the Asia Outdoor Exhibition has relied on Europe’s rich experience in the outdoor industry and professional exhibitions. Over fourteen years, it has grown alongside China’s outdoor industry and has become a leader among similar exhibitions in the country. With a professional team and extensive experience, how do exhibitors view this year’s Asian Outdoor Exhibition?

Exhibitors’ Evaluations of This Year’s Asian Outdoor Exhibition

UTC Travel CEO Kong Weihong:
I think this exhibition will keep getting better, because the Asian Outdoor Exhibition team has many years of experience, with a foundation built over 13 editions. Moreover, the entire industry and our market have been rapidly changing these past two years. The Asian Outdoor Exhibition has been able to bring together so many colleagues and peers who love the outdoors and this industry, helping the industry grow bigger. So I hope the Asian Outdoor Exhibition achieves great success.

MOBI GARDEN Marketing Manager Bao Kai:
This year’s Asia Outdoor Exhibition shows that a lot of thought and care went into it. For example, they introduced the outdoor carnival, which hadn’t been done before. In the past, the Asian Outdoor Exhibition mainly targeted corporate users and professional audiences, focusing on B2B. This year, it opened up more to the general public, including the carnival, which is a great platform for interacting with ordinary visitors.
We also hope the Asian Outdoor Exhibition continues to do well. Next year, we hope more brands will see the effort put in this year and return to the Asia Outdoor Exhibition.

FIRE-MAPLE Domestic Sales Director Zhang Xiaoyu:
This year’s B2B2C approach is a very good attempt. We hope this approach continues and achieves great results, providing strong impetus for China’s outdoor industry.

33000ft Brand Director Wang Xuming:
I hope the Asian Outdoor Exhibition will continue to improve because I attended last year, and we’re always improving ourselves. We also hope the Asian Outdoor Exhibition will get better and better.

KAILAS PR & Events Manager Zhao Zong:
Besides the Nanjing exhibition, this year’s Asia Outdoor Exhibition also took place in Tai’an, Mount Tai. Actually, by pushing more toward the C-end, this kind of exhibition reaches a broader audience and serves more brands in connecting with consumers. It also offers a wider platform for product R&D, and for award-winning and cutting-edge products to engage with consumers.

TENTOP Brand Operations Director Jin Hai:
Actually, TENTOP has been participating in the Asia Outdoor Exhibition since 2016, and this is our fourth year. We’ve built a deep relationship with the Asian Outdoor Exhibition. This year, the exhibition and carnival will also tour to Tai’an, and we’re fully cooperating. For the Asian Outdoor Exhibition, we hope to fight side by side. TENTOP, just like you all, wants to innovate and make the exhibition even better.

Kestrel Market Manager Li Ting?:
This year actually marks the 15th anniversary of Osprey’s entry into China. Osprey cherishes its over ten-year partnership with the Asia Outdoor Show and hopes the event will continue to thrive, achieving new milestones in its 15th year!

KAYS Sales General Manager Gui Jia:
Overall, the exhibitors and visitors were quite good. First of all, the direction of the show’s development also represents the direction of the industry’s growth. We hope that in future shows, everyone can collaborate more.
KAYS has participated in the Nanjing Asia Outdoor Show for several editions, which has played a significant role in establishing our brand image. We hope the organizer will increase promotional efforts to attract more exhibitors, brands, and visitors. This allows us to discover better platforms, more businesses, and a larger audience. We hope for deeper collaboration and for the Asia Outdoor Show to keep getting better.

Ober (brand) Brand Operations Director Cui Yu:
This is the 14th edition of the Asia Outdoor Show. Actually, we’ve been following the show for many years. Our products started collaborating with the Asia Outdoor Show as soon as they entered the Chinese market, and this year marks our second consecutive year. The Asia Outdoor Show is already the highest-end exhibition in the domestic industry, so it attracts quite professional customers. We have high expectations for this show, and those expectations have been met. The 15th Asia Outdoor Show will be on June 18th next year. We look forward to working together with the Asia Outdoor Show, striving for mutual progress, and hoping the show will continue to improve.

Dyneema (brand) China Market Development Manager Tong Song:
I hope the entire industry will continue to grow. China’s outdoor industry, along with the 2022 Winter Olympics, can also develop better. Let’s work together to expand the market to serve all mid-tier consumers, thereby elevating both companies and brands. I hope we can all work hard toward this goal.

Koran General Manager Ma Yuzhou:
The biggest highlight of this Asia Outdoor Show is that it was held concurrently with the carnival. The carnival is a B2C event that lets people experience the outdoors, breaking away from the traditional B2B nature of exhibitions. The combination of B2B and B2C is a great highlight. We hope the Asia Outdoor Show will continue to improve, attracting more visitors and industry professionals each year.

The 14th Asia Outdoor Show and the first “Ziran Pai” Outdoor Carnival have concluded successfully. Looking ahead to 2020, the Asia Outdoor Show will provide more new opportunities for the industry, share new platforms, and create another new starting point.
The “Ziran Pai” Outdoor Carnival will take Nanjing as its core and rely on the Asia Outdoor Show to expand nationwide, holding events in various locations to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts across the country and to build a broader B2C resource platform for the industry.

From June 18–20, 2020, the 15th Asia Outdoor Show looks forward to meeting you again at the Nanjing Xinzhao National Exhibition Center.
