This event, under the correct leadership of the Yecheng County Party Committee and County People's Government, was organized by the Yecheng County Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, and hosted by the Xinjiang Tourism Shanghai Promotion Service Center and Shanghai Travel Network Travel Service Co., Ltd. It is an in-depth self-drive tour of the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway’s natural scenery.
Attending the event were Zhang Bin, Standing Committee Member and Deputy County Head of Yecheng County, and Deputy Commander of the Shanghai Aid-Xinjiang Yecheng Division; Zhang Zhonghe, Secretary of the Party Group of the Yecheng County Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau; Gulbahar Maimaiti, Director of the Bureau; Zhu Nianhua, Party Committee Member and Deputy Director of the Yecheng County Public Security Bureau, and Shanghai Aid-Xinjiang cadre; Zhao Fengyu, General Manager of the Xinjiang Tourism Shanghai Promotion Service Center and Shanghai Travel Network Travel Service Co., Ltd.; and Mao Dongmei, Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Tourism Shanghai Promotion Service Center and Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Travel Network. The event also invited well-known media representatives and travel influencers.
The Xinjiang-Tibet Highway: The Dream Road of Special Tourism
As a flagship event of the 10th Xinjiang International Special Tourism Festival and one of the key tourism development projects of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region this year, this activity is not only led by veteran team leader — Mao Dongmei, Deputy Director, who will be venturing deep into the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway for the fourth time — but also joined by Shanghai’s renowned culture and tourism industry expert Zhao Fengyu, as well as Chinese travel, food, and lifestyle social media influencer and Sina Weibo influencer with millions of followers@TuscanyTSKN ,@Shanghai Cold Air, who will all accompany the group to offer insights and suggestions for the development and promotion of the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway.
The journey will span thirteen days. The group will embark on a campervan self-drive from Yecheng, the starting point of the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, passing through the Kudi Pass, Thirty Mile Barracks, Dahongliutan, Jieshan Pass, Shiquan River, Shigatse, and finally arriving in Lhasa, Tibet. Together, they will experience the local customs and cultures of both regions, the unique charm of the “City of Sunlight,” and realize the dream of “taking the road less traveled” high on the plateau.

In recent years, Yecheng County in Xinjiang has followed the “Tourism Strengthening County” strategy, focusing on the six key elements of “eat, live, travel, tour, shop, and entertain,” integrating local culture with tourism resources, continuously building the “Culture + Tourism” brand along the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, implementing targeted poverty alleviation efforts, and promoting integrated industrial development in Yecheng.
