To effectively carry out the “Stay True to Our Original Aspiration and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind” theme education campaign, in line with the principles of “staying true to our original aspiration, shouldering our mission, identifying gaps, and implementing measures,” and in conjunction with the visit by Wu Yingjie, Secretary of the Autonomous Region Party Committee, to the Red Building in early July this year, where he emphasized “staying true to our original aspiration, keeping our mission firmly in mind, promoting the spirit of old Tibet and the spirit of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, and striving to create a new situation of rapid development and lasting stability,” in order to address the shortcomings in the region’s red tourism sector, on August 14, the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Department organized more than 10 key local tourism enterprises and 13 media outlets from both within and outside the region to launch the region’s first “Red Tourism+” composite tourism product (route) in Bomi County, Nyingchi City. Wang Songping, Director of the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Department, Zhou Chuanfeng, Secretary of the Party Group of the Nyingchi City Tourism Development Bureau, and other leaders attended the symposium.

As a form of cultural tourism with special educational significance, red tourism in China has seen growing popularity in recent years and is gradually becoming one of the top themes. The Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Department has formed a “Red Tourism Alliance” by uniting numerous red tourism sites in Lhasa and Nyingchi (including the Tan Guansan Memorial Park in Lhasa, the Red Building of the Zhaxiu County Party Committee Central Office in Bomi County, and the Monument to the Ten Heroes of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway in Tongmai), and has launched a premium red tourism route from Lhasa to Nyingchi via Nyalam, Bomi, and Basongco. This route also integrates ecological and rural tourism along the way, further enriching the tourism offerings in the region.

Wang Songping, Director of the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Department, pointed out at the symposium that Bomi currently lacks corresponding red tourism products and professional personnel. Bomi should leverage its resource advantages such as being the “Hometown of Tibetan Kings” and the “Land of Glaciers,” effectively combining distinctive eco-tourism, rural tourism, and red culture to develop various forms of red tourism routes. It should also focus on building a team of high-quality red tourism guides to promote the high-quality development of red tourism in Bomi. In addition, Bomi should encourage the development of boutique homestays on the basis of family guesthouses, create rural complexes, and further enhance its tourism reception capacity.

Industry representatives including Tsering, Executive President of the Tibet Autonomous Region Travel Agencies Association, Tsewang Gunga, Party Committee Secretary and General Manager of Tibet Tourism Corporation, and Chai Jidong, Editor-in-Chief of People’s Daily Online Tibet Channel, also shared their insights on the development of the region’s first “Red Tourism+” composite tourism product (route). Participants noted that Bomi’s red tourism can draw on its beautiful natural scenery to develop various themed tours such as eco-tourism, rural tourism, and study tours. Visitors can not only experience red tourism but also enjoy Bomi’s unique summer wellness and cool retreat experiences.
