The 2019 National Double Ninth Fitness Hiking Conference – Lanzhou Anning Venue to Kick Off Strongly on October 12

       2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The National Double Ninth Fitness Hiking Conference has gradually grown and flourished on the basis of 70 years of vigorous development in sports and the sports industry. On this joyous occasion of national celebration, the Western Venue of the 2019 National Double Ninth Fitness Hiking Conference and the Lanzhou Anning “Sports Lottery Cup” Jiuzhoutai Hiking Event will be grandly held on October 12 in Jiuzhoutai, Anning District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province.

　　    China’s sports industry has achieved remarkable accomplishments alongside national strength and development. Since its launch in Lanzhou Anning in 2017, the National Double Ninth Fitness Hiking Conference has become a major public fitness event in the area, attracting over 2,000 hiking athletes and enthusiasts from across the country to gather at Jiuzhoutai in Anning each year. This allows more people to share the benefits of sports development, enjoy healthy bodies, the pleasure of exercise, an upbeat mindset, and a happy life.

　　    The theme of the 2019 National Double Ninth Fitness Hiking Conference Western Venue and Lanzhou Anning “Sports Lottery Cup” Jiuzhoutai Hiking Event is “Meet at Double Ninth Festival, Climb High and Embrace Jiuzhou.” It is jointly organized by the General Administration of Sport of China, the All-China Sports Federation, the Gansu Provincial Sports Bureau, the Lanzhou Municipal Sports Bureau, and the People’s Government of Anning District, Lanzhou City. It is hosted by the Lanzhou Anning District Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and the Anning District North-South Mountains Environmental Engineering Greening Command, and co-organized by the Gansu Mountaineering Sports Association and the Lanzhou Mountaineering Sports Association. The aim is to foster a social atmosphere where the elderly are healthy, respected, and cared for, to promote the traditional Chinese custom of climbing high on the Double Ninth Festival, to cultivate fitness habits through hiking and outdoor activities, to encourage more young people to participate in respecting and caring for the elderly and children, and to spark a wave of nationwide fitness enthusiasm.

　　    This hiking event combines the traditional Chinese custom of Double Ninth hiking with the new trend of national fitness, featuring competitive, public, family, and senior groups. The competitive group includes male and female categories, with participants aged 18–60. Race results are based on valid finishing times, and the top 20 in each category will receive corresponding prize money. The public group is open to participants aged 18–59. The family group has no age restrictions, but children must be at least 3 years old. The senior group is for participants aged 60–70. The top 10 in the public, family, and senior groups will win prizes, and all who finish within the designated time will receive a souvenir.

　　    Lanzhou Anning is located in the suburbs of Lanzhou City, on the north bank of the Yellow River, and is a shining pearl along the ancient Silk Road. Nestled between mountains and water, the area boasts a beautiful environment, fertile land, and is nationally renowned as one of the four major peach production bases, often called the “Ten-Li Peach Township.” Jiuzhoutai Scenic Area, the highest point on the northern mountainside of Lanzhou, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. At an elevation of 2,067 meters, it stands opposite Gaolan Mountain, forming a majestic landscape where two mountains cradle the long river and embrace Lanzhou. From its heights, visitors can take in the sweeping bends of the Yellow River and the bustling cityscape. The competitive group’s course spans 8 kilometers, starting from Luojiu Highway, proceeding along the wooden boardwalk of Jiuzhoutai, ascending to the mountaintop, and ending at the Complete Library in Four Branches of Literature Pavilion. The public, family, and senior groups’ course is about 3 kilometers long, with a total elevation gain of approximately 282 meters, beginning at Luojiu Highway and ending at the finish line. Hikers ascending via Luojiu Highway will pass by culturally rich and classic structures such as the Lanzhou Guoxue (Traditional Chinese Learning) Museum and the Wensu Pavilion, home to the Siku Quanshu collection. Along the way, they’ll enjoy picturesque scenery, lush greenery, and majestic mountains, taking in the autumn colors of Lanzhou while hiking.

　　    The hosting of the Western Venue of the National Double Ninth Fitness Hiking Conference and the Lanzhou Anning “Sports Lottery Cup” Jiuzhoutai Hiking Event will greatly advance the development of public fitness and sports in Lanzhou.
