Four summer expedition teams from China Agricultural University's Fengyun Society submitted their reports

On the evening of October 7, 2019, at 7 PM, the 2019 Summer Activity Report Meeting of China Agricultural University's Fengyun Society was held in the Public Recruitment Hall 3 on the East Campus of the university.

First, Wu Ruibin, President of the Fengyun Society, gave a speech introducing the society and the four summer teams. His words expressed affirmation and best wishes for both the society and the teams. At the end, he thanked all the groups and individuals who had shown care and support for the society and the teams.

The four summer teams of the Fengyun Society are the Mountaineering Team, the Humanities Research Team, the Orienteering Team, and the Big Climb Team. Each team operates independently, forming in spring every year. After a semester of preparation, they finally embark on their respective journeys during the summer break.

Huang Xiaolou, captain of the Big Climb Team, and Chen Xuan, captain of the Orienteering Team, introduced the overall situation of their respective teams, including team members, daily training, and competition processes. When discussing competition results, both captains expressed that this year’s performance was somewhat disappointing, but they remained undeterred and confident. They stated they would summarize their experiences and make targeted improvements.

The Big Climb Team and the Orienteering Team participate in the National Student Rock Climbing Championship and the National Student Orienteering Championship respectively. These are two competitive sports teams. The teams form preliminary squads driven primarily by interest and conduct targeted training. Through repeated extreme training, team members push beyond both physical and mental limits, experiencing the purity of rock climbing and orienteering.

The third captain to speak was Jiang Lu, leader of the Humanities Research Team. She presented the team’s thorough preparations before entering Tibet and their achievements during the trip. She said, “The Humanities Research Team is a group of young people seriously doing extraordinary things. Our hearts are not only for ourselves, but also for others; not only for Beijing, but also for Tibet.” This is a team that writes its papers on the land of the motherland.

The Humanities Research Team is a socially-oriented team with the unique characteristics of Fengyun. Since 2005, for fifteen consecutive years, it has focused on rural revitalization in Tibet, consistently carrying out teaching support services and various themed social research projects, practicing the sense of responsibility of CAU students to “alleviate the hardships of the people” through concrete actions.

Finally, Mei Junmei, captain of the Mountaineering Team, gave a speech. She introduced the target mountain, team members, preparatory work, and climbing schedule. Among other points, she mentioned the impact of mountaineering on people: “It changes people and makes them think deeply.” Mountaineering is not just a physical activity; it genuinely transforms the mindset of team members.

The Mountaineering Team is a temporary snow mountain climbing team formed during the climbing season. In the sixteen years since the founding of Fengyun, it has carried out 30 climbs, covering 17 mountains. “No mountaineering, no Fengyun.”

The report meeting concluded with the screening of the Mountaineering Team’s video. With this, the 2019 summer activities of China Agricultural University's Fengyun Society came to a successful close.
