As a pioneer in international assistance services, Europ Assistance Group of France continues to expand its strategic layout in China and actively participates in the development of Chengdu’s International Medical Consumption Center. On October 18, 2019, Europ Assistance China, along with partners such as China Life Insurance and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, attended the signing ceremony for the establishment of the Chengdu International Medical Consumption Center Support Strategy Alliance held at the China-Europe Center as part of the alliance community, and delivered speeches.

The Chengdu International Medical Consumption Center project aims to explore new pathways for the development of medical security in the new era that align with innovative development concepts and the internationalization of the city. It seeks to establish a strategic synergy mechanism for medical security led by the government, driven by market entities, and characterized by complementary strengths, providing support for Chengdu’s goal of building an international medical consumption center oriented toward the Belt and Road Initiative.

Europ Assistance entered the Chinese market in 1989 and officially set up in Chengdu one year ago, beginning its exploration in the fields of elderly care and medical accompaniment services. In October 2019, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and the development of Chengdu’s International Medical Consumption Center, it continued to deepen its strategic deployment. Leveraging global experience accumulated since 1963, a business network spanning over 220 countries and regions, 30 years of localized service understanding, and claims settlement service channels, as well as professional cross-border medical information resources, Europ Assistance contributes to the Chengdu “International Medical Consumption Center” project.

It is reported that Europ Assistance China plans to establish a one-stop, people-oriented international integrated medical treatment assistance service for international residents in Chengdu, providing relevant service information 24/7. It also intends to use its global resources to offer internationalized medical services for local and foreign individuals in need. Additionally, it plans to promote its long-standing advocacy of the full-chain health management protection concept of Precaution, Prevention, Protection (protection begins with prevention) digitally within the process of constructing the International Medical Consumption Center.

Xu Yali, Chief Marketing Officer of Europ Assistance China, stated at the signing ceremony: “We are honored to participate in the construction of the International Medical Consumption Center as a member of the alliance. Chengdu is a convergence point of China on the Belt and Road, full of potential and vitality, and is an important strategic market for Europ Assistance China. Europ Assistance has been serving local residents in Chengdu for a year, and now we aim to leverage our global resources and network to serve more international individuals who come to Chengdu due to the Belt and Road and development opportunities, as well as to support the internationalization of healthcare consumption for both local and foreign individuals. We will work together with alliance members, and believe that with strong guidance and innovative support from governments at all levels, 'medical consumption localization for international residents' in Chengdu, 'medical consumption internationalization for local residents,' and 'health-oriented international medical consumption' will be achieved soon.”

Yang Ke, General Manager of the Elderly Care and Health Management Division of Europ Assistance China, said at the meeting: “In 2018, Europ Assistance China officially established its Health Division and was the first to come to Chengdu to provide medical assistance services centered around 'accompanying medical visits' and elderly care, receiving positive feedback. We are pleased to participate in Chengdu’s efforts to vigorously build an 'International Medical Consumption Center.' We hope to leverage our international advantages, professional team, and global system network to extend people-oriented care services to the medical assistance needs of Chengdu’s more than 20,000 expatriates. Together with relevant departments and alliance partners, we aim to establish a 24/7 multilingual call center for foreign-related services, enabling expatriates to quickly find appropriate medical channels, receive localized multilingual accompaniment and care services, complete medical treatments and claims procedures smoothly in Chengdu, enhance their health management experience, and improve their sense of security and happiness in living in Chengdu.”
