As the Year of the Metal Rat approaches, Uber Eats has analyzed Taiwan’s food preferences from over 10,000 partner restaurants and millions of dishes across its 18 operating cities, and will unveil a unique pop-up experience in Taipei’s Da’an District from January 16 to January 20. The “Uber Eats Reunion ‘Food’ Festival” will feature eight popular restaurants on the platform offering lucky New Year dishes, allowing loyal fans and their families to celebrate early.

During festive seasons, gatherings and celebrations are inevitable, and Uber Eats has uncovered Taiwan’s food preferences from millions of dishes.
Data Point 1: Taiwanese users ordered over 22 million dumplings on Uber Eats last year—enough to stack up to 1,333 Taipei 101 towers. Order lucky gold ingot dumplings anytime during the New Year period.
Data Point 2: Across all cuisines, six out of the top 10 most popular dishes are chicken-based—whether it’s crispy fried chicken, chicken cutlets, chicken rice, Hainanese chicken rice, or chicken soup—making them perfect for entertaining family and friends during the holidays.

Data Point 3: Taiwanese cuisine has topped the list of most popular food categories on Uber Eats for three consecutive years. Classic lunch and dinner options include beef rice, beef noodles, and potstickers. Interestingly, steak, nourishing pork bone soup, and sesame oil chicken sets also made the list.
Data Point 4: Pairing a meal with a drink has become a mainstream dining trend since 2019. Bubble tea, aged black tea, and fruit tea consistently rank high, while juices, smoothies, and coffee emerged as dark horse favorites.

Ahead of the Lunar New Year, Uber Eats set up a unique “Taiwan Eats Reunion” pop-up space in Taipei’s Da’an District from January 16 to January 20. The space wowed attendees with a sea of festive lanterns and a red packet floral wall. Popular Thai restaurant “Ba Wang Restaurant,” heritage innovative eatery “KiKi Restaurant,” Netflix-featured “Lin Congming Clay Pot Fish Head” (only available in Chiayi), renowned Hong Kong-style dim sum spots “Dian Dian Xin” and “Tai Hing Restaurant,” luxury French dessert brand “PAUL,” the delicious “Ningxia Night Market,” and classic American diner “TGI Fridays” all participated to delight customers with food, aesthetics, and memorable moments.
Food brands joined Uber Eats’ New Year dishes campaign, with the second person from the right being successful F&B brand operator Wei.
The event is expected to distribute 50,000 discount red packet codes during the campaign period.
