Taichung is home to many unique restaurants, and near Taichung Railway Station, a corner of “Brick House Alley” is brightly lit. Not only is it strikingly red and eye-catching, but the air is also filled with the spicy aroma of hot pot. Whether diners or passersby, everyone can’t help but stop for photos, making it a perfect spot to visit during the Lunar New Year.

WOW COOL Hot Pot and the adjacent Brick House Alley feature the only 200 large red lanterns in Taichung, along with a two-story-tall “Prosperity Firecracker.” The exterior is inspired by the traditional blue-brick architecture of Chengdu’s Kuanzhai Alley, with windows and doors adorned with traditional window grilles from various provinces in China, creating a full-on ancient capital ambiance of Chengdu and Chongqing. This gives the spicy hot pot an especially distinctive flavor.

The interior of the building is filled with classic Chinese charm, serene and dignified beauty — luxurious peony murals and carved wooden partition doors make you feel as if you've stepped into an ancient inn. The dishes are highlighted by chefs who traveled to Chengdu and Chongqing to learn their craft, using premium Sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers flown in directly from China to deliver the bold, numbing, rich flavors and hearty textures of authentic Sichuan butter hot pot.
