Byōdō-in is open to the public only during spring and autumn each year. In spring, you can enjoy vivid green hues, while autumn offers poetic and picturesque red foliage.

In spring, Byōdō-in displays vast expanses of blue-tinted red leaves. Lush green forests dye the ancient temple grounds in green, with bright green reflections cast on the floor, creating a unique and spectacular view. The courtyard architecture has a distinctly traditional Japanese ambiance. The second floor is the most popular viewing hall, featuring a large, gleaming table that perfectly reflects the autumn leaves outside the garden, giving visitors a dreamlike experience.

Aside from sightseeing, you can also copy sutras here to calm your mind and immerse yourself in the tranquility of Byōdō-in. The first floor has the "Garden of Glass," where you can sit on tatami mats and enjoy the changing play of light and shadow.
