On the afternoon of December 10, the athlete and media meet-and-greet event for the COLMO Air Conditioner・2019 FIS Ski Big Air World Cup Beijing (Boiling Snow) was held at the Press Conference Hall of the No. 3 Blast Furnace in Beijing’s Shougang Park. The year 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the Boiling Snow event in China, and it is also the first time the competition has been held at the newly completed Shougang Ski Jump, which will also serve as the official venue for ski jumping at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. This collaboration with Boiling Snow marks the first official public appearance of the Shougang Ski Jump.
Mr. Roberto Moresi, Director of Competitions of the International Ski Federation (FIS); Ms. Saskia Schonrieder, Event Director of Boiling Snow; freestyle male athlete Henrik Harlaut (Sweden), freestyle female athlete Sarah Hoefflin (Switzerland), snowboard male athlete Sven Thorgren (Sweden), snowboard female athlete Anna Gasser (Austria), freestyle female athlete Yang Shuorui (China), and snowboard male athlete Su Yiming (China) attended this athlete and media meet-and-greet.
Star-studded lineup creates a world-class event.
At the press conference, the official list of participating athletes from various countries was announced. This year, the COLMO Air Conditioner・2019 FIS Ski Big Air World Cup Beijing (Boiling Snow) has added freestyle skiing on both skis to the existing ski big air events, doubling the number of participating athletes and bringing together the world's top athletes in both ski and snowboard big air disciplines.
In the men’s freestyle skiing category, there are Fabian Bösch, winner of the Big Air gold medal at X-Games; Andri Ragettli, the first athlete to successfully land a "switch double cork 1800"; and Ruud Birk, two-time World Cup champion.
The women’s freestyle skiing participants are no less impressive, including Mathilde Gremaud, who won silver at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics; Sarah Hoefflin, who remains at the peak of her career at age 28; and Giulia Tanno, winner of the FIS Ski Big Air World Cup in Germany.
In the men’s snowboarding category, there is Mark McMorris, only 25 years old but already a multiple-event champion; Chris Corning, one of the few athletes capable of landing a Quad Cork; and Sven Thorgren, a Swedish snowboarding legend.
In the women’s snowboarding category, we have Anna Gasser, winner of the FIS Ski Big Air World Cup in Germany; Zoe Sadowski-Synnott, only 18 years old but already a big name in the sport; and Laurie Blouin, winner of the slopestyle event at the World Ski Championships in Nevada.
Each of them has established themselves as leaders in their fields and achieved remarkable results. This year’s Boiling Snow also featured a special fan meet-and-greet on December 9, allowing Chinese skiing enthusiasts to get up close with international skiing stars and experience how close China’s winter sports scene is to the world stage.
