A small southern Taiwan town transforms into a City of Moonlight — Rabbit Lane in Moon River is a huge draw

Every year during the Lantern Festival, the small town of Yanshui in Tainan hosts the Moon River Lantern Festival, which has received widespread acclaim. This year, the festival has further enhanced its artistic atmosphere and public appeal by integrating local elements and launching the 2019 Autumn Exhibition of the Moon Art Museum, titled “City of Moonlight.” The exhibition runs from November 23 to February 16 of the following year, ending at the same time as the Moon River Harbor Lantern Festival.

“City of Moonlight” invited five art groups — Kiki Shing, YuYu Art Studio, Liang Laichang × Group B, Chang Hui-lan & Donghai University Team, and Xu Fuzhi — to take “moonlight” as the curatorial theme, transforming Yanshui’s two old streets and four lanes into an outdoor art museum. Among them, Rabbit Lane in Liancheng Alley has become especially popular with visitors of all ages.

The organizers recommend the best visiting route: starting from “Moon Landing Project – JINJIN No. 15” at the Moon River Story House → “Rabbits of Liancheng” in Liancheng Alley → “Growth is a Flowing Light Tree” in Yiyin Alley → “Time Memories Wandering Through the King’s Temple Alley” in the King’s Temple Lane → “Messenger of Time” on the facade of Zhongzheng Road → “KiraKira” in Fish Scale Alley.
