The Dakan rice ball was originally located near the side gate of Kaohsiung Medical University but reportedly moved to its current location on Zhengxing Road after a split in the business. But of course, the great taste remains the same – just look at the morning queue to see how delicious it is.

As the name suggests, the Dakan rice ball specializes in, well, rice balls. You can watch the owner deftly scrape out the salted egg yolks and place them on the chewy glutinous rice, then add pork floss, pickled vegetables, dried radish, minced pork sauce, and crispy youtiao.

Of course, aside from the rice ball itself being incredibly tasty, the affordable price is also a key factor. Prices range between NT$25 and NT$35 – not only is the taste great, but so is the price. No wonder even locals line up for it.

In addition to rice balls, there’s also an egg pancake section. Unlike regular egg pancakes, the ones here are made with a batter-based wrapper, so the filling and wrapper meld together completely – quite unique.
