Yesterday, one of the events at the inaugural Western Mountain Grand Canyon Hiking & Spring Outing Festival—the "Egg-Pulling Contest"—drew considerable controversy among visitors.
The rules of the game were as follows: several green-skinned eggs tied with strings were placed inside a transparent wide-mouthed jar, with the other ends of the strings held by multiple participants. While the host cracked jokes, he would randomly shout "Pull!" and all participants would tug the eggs outward. The last person to pull out their egg was deemed the loser and had to wear a "green hat" as punishment, which also featured a drawing of a turtle.
Some visitors found the game novel and entertaining, but many more expressed disgust, believing the contest to be in poor taste, insulting to dignity, and that attracting attention should not be done in this manner. Relevant authorities should put a stop to it. (Reporter Zhao Sanjun)
