Located along the coast of Laomei in Shimen District on the Northern Coast, the Laomei Green Rock Shelves turn a vivid emerald green every year from March to May due to the growth of seaweed, creating a unique landscape found nowhere else in Taiwan. When the rock shelves are covered with lush green algae, the striking colors and elegant lines form a spectacular view that photography enthusiasts flock to capture annually.

While the Grand Canyon in the U.S. is known for its awe-inspiring grandeur, Linkou also offers a similarly impressive sight. Situated beside Provincial Highway 61 (West Coast Expressway), Linkou Buffalo Pit—also called the Linkou Grand Canyon—features unique landforms and is often frequented by privately herded cattle. This makes it a popular destination for newlyweds taking wedding photos and netizens looking for photo-worthy spots.

Gongbei Temple is a renowned century-old temple whose architecture and surroundings blend traditional Chinese design with the lanterns left behind from Japan’s Nogi Shrine. In winter, when the maple leaves turn red, visitors can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and the ancient bridge and temple nestled among them.

Located on the mountainside between Xindian and Muzha, the Galaxy Cave is a hidden gem perched at an altitude of over 200 meters. With a waterfall drop of about 40 meters, the site offers a mystical sight as water cascades down year-round. The Galaxy Cave itself is a concave mountain cave that houses a small temple dedicated to Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy), and features the inscription “A World Apart” on its walls. The hiking trail along the way is lined with lush greenery, making it an easy and popular trekking route.
