The underground passage breaks away from the usual dull and dark impression. Located near Taipei’s Red Line Jiantan Station, it has drawn many visitors to take photos because of its sci-fi-style streetlights, transforming this ordinary underpass into a new IG portrait hotspot.

This underpass is situated near Exit 2 of Jiantan Station and the Chunghwa Telecom Shilin Service Center. On the ceilings of the stairways, rows of uniquely designed large circular lights give off a cool-toned, intense glow like donuts, enhancing the sci-fi atmosphere at night.
The underground walkway at Exit 1 of Jiantan Station resembles an infinitely extending time tunnel.
On the other side, the underground walkway directly outside Exit 1 of Jiantan Station is a daily route for students of Ming Chuan University. The warm yellow lighting inside the tunnel visually elongates the long corridor, creating the illusion of stepping into a time tunnel and evoking the fantastical scenes of a sci-fi novel.

The Jiantan underpass is a highly popular spot for street photography.
Jiantan Station happens to be the closest MRT station to Shilin Night Market. Many people visit the night market and then snap a stylish photo as a memento. The simple yet trendy backdrop not only serves as a great spot for street photography but is also perfect for fashion photos, making it a hidden gem among college students.
