It is understood that three hikers from the Pearl River Delta region ventured deep into the mountains of Chuan Di Ding in Luokeng Town, Qujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province on May 25. The next day, a sudden heavy fog caused their navigation systems to malfunction, leaving them lost in the mountains.
At around 10 p.m. on May 27, the Luokeng Town government received a notice from higher authorities that three non-local hikers were lost in the Xiadong area of Xindong Village. That night, the rescue team instructed the lost hikers to stay put at a safe location and wait for help. At 6 a.m. yesterday, the rescue team set out toward the Xiadong mountainous area at dawn. After three hours of trekking through rugged terrain, rescuers finally located the three missing hikers. One of the hikers had a sprained ankle but recovered quickly after receiving treatment from the rescue team’s doctor. After descending the mountain, the Luokeng Town government provided them with lunch and later arranged transportation to take the three adventurous hikers to the Shaoguan high-speed railway station. All three hikers are currently in good physical and mental condition.
The Luokeng Town government reminds all hiking enthusiasts not to attempt to conquer Chuan Di Ding without adequate preparation — safety always comes first.
