In Yangshuo, known as “one of the birthplaces of rock climbing in China” and a “world-class tourist destination,” the first-ever Chinese Deep Water Bouldering Masters Competition is now in full preparation.
To promote rock climbing in China and tourism in Yangshuo, the “China·Yangshuo 2012 International Climbing Masters Competition,” organized by the People’s Government of Yangshuo County, the Culture and Sports Bureau of Yangshuo County, the Tourism Bureau of Yangshuo County, and hosted by Shanghai Yanbang Outdoor Sports Planning Co., Ltd., will be held at the Luotuo Guojiang (Camel Crossing the River) scenic spot along the beautiful Yulong River. The competition dates are September 6–8, 2012.
Deep water bouldering is the unique format of this championship. World-class international climbers (confirmed participants include American climbing master SHARMA—Sharma, Japan's YUJI—Hirayama Yushi, and others) ranked among the top 20 globally, as well as domestic registered athletes and elites from major climbing clubs, will compete together on stage, showcasing spectacular “ballet on the cliffs.” Each time athletes leap into the Yulong River after completing a route, it will draw cheers and applause from the audience. Meanwhile, rock climbing treasure hunts and endurance competitions will take place at natural rock sites such as Yangshuo’s Bottle Hill, and slacklining competitions over the Yulong River will offer spectators a dazzling visual feast. The event will feature generous prize money and abundant awards.
The award ceremony and rock & roll music gala held after the competition will blend with Yangshuo’s tourism culture, allowing athletes and audiences to interact up close. The spirit of sports transcends boundaries, bringing together rock climbing enthusiasts from around the world and China to exchange and learn together, deeply experiencing the event’s theme: “Passion of the Climbers · The Enchanting Journey in Yangshuo!”
