The 2012 "Tengtu Cup" 10th China International Mountain Outdoor Sports Open successfully concluded on October 13, 2012. This international sporting event was jointly organized by the General Administration of Sport of China, the National Radio and Television Administration, and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. The competition ran from October 10 to 13, 2012, and was supported by thirteen companies providing sponsorship materials worth a total of 6.5 million yuan. This edition featured the highest number of sponsoring companies and the largest sponsorship amount in the history of the Open. Since its opening on October 10, the competition has attracted over 140 sports teams from more than 40 countries and regions across Europe, Asia, North America, Oceania, and Africa. The scale of the event has grown significantly from the inaugural edition, which featured 15 teams from 5 countries and regions, to 25 teams from 18 countries and regions in 2011 — including 18 international teams and 7 domestic teams. The foreign teams came from more than 10 countries, such as the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Finland, Poland, South Korea, and Japan. These teams included the top 6 international outdoor sports teams and the top 5 domestic teams, including the Kolumb (Kolonbu) Outdoor Team, truly representing the highest level of international outdoor sports competitions. For the Kolumb (Kolonbu) outdoor products brand, this was yet another perfect showcase on the international stage.
Mountain cross-country racing is a well-established and conventional major format in outdoor sports.
