※ Winter Training Plan
In a pre-race interview, the Golonbu Outdoor Team stated that they had two main objectives for participating in this event: first, to use the race as training to maintain competitive form; and second, to engage in exchanges with more domestic cycling enthusiasts through the competition. As the athletes explained, since most outdoor races conclude in November and the cold weather after winter makes training at their Guizhou base inadequate, plus the team has been competing continuously in multiple international outdoor events since August and needs time to recover and adjust, Captain Lu Zhenghu included both cycling races and “duathlons” in the team’s “winter training plan” to achieve the dual goals of maintaining competitive condition and smoothly carrying out winter training. After the race, Lu Zhenghu summarized: “After all, compared to professional events that often last several days and cover hundreds of kilometers, the intensity of a cycling race is not high, so striving for a good placement and result can be seen as a kind of ‘training exercise.’”
