The forces of nature’s tectonic movements created Hehuan Mountain, standing at an elevation of 3,422 meters at the border of Hualien and Nantou counties in central Taiwan. From tropical to alpine natural landscapes and vegetation species, Hehuan Mountain has them all, and Taiwan’s longest river originates here, making Hehuan Mountain one of the most famous peaks among Taiwan’s Hundred Mountains. Originally a hunting ground for the local indigenous Atayal people, the area was remote and desolate.
