This abandoned “Stone Park” amusement park in Waipu, Taichung, covers an area of approximately 25 hectares. It was once a cherished childhood memory for locals during hiking trips. After years of neglect, the park has long been closed, but its uniquely desolate and eerie scenery has attracted many photography enthusiasts, even serving as a filming location for the horror movie “The Tag-Along Girl.”

Closed for many years, Stone Park still retains the charm of a 1960s amusement park. Facilities such as a Ferris wheel, a track train, and a carousel can still be seen, but now they are overgrown with weeds. The once vibrant rides are now reduced to rusting metal and empty spaces. Yet, it is precisely this desolate and mysterious atmosphere that draws many photography enthusiasts here.

In the movie “The Tag-Along Girl,” the girl’s accident is said to have taken place at another well-known abandoned amusement park in Taichung, “Carnival Park.” However, the actual filming location was “Stone Park.”

Stone Park is private property. Currently, the park is under renovation and is temporarily closed to the public. Those wishing to enter for photography must contact the farm owner in advance by phone and pay an entrance fee of NT$200 per person, or wait until the park’s renovation is complete before visiting.

In addition to the ongoing renovation of the amusement park area, the farm owner is also revitalizing Stone Park by investing in greenhouse research and cultivation. Everything is done hands-on, including the construction of two new 300-ping glass greenhouses selling tomatoes, cucumbers, muskmelons, strawberries, sweet peppers, and chestnut pumpkins. It’s also a great place to visit and experience a different kind of relaxing farm atmosphere.
