Not far from the Yeyin Tribe, there is a cold spring formed by mountain streams converging together—it stays cool all year. On a hot, sunny day in Orchid Island, swimming in the cold spring or simply taking off your shoes and soaking your feet is a true delight. At the entrance of the cold spring is a cave where locals collect mountain spring water in bottles to take home. The water quality here has remained unpolluted since ancient times.

On the way from Lover’s Cave to Dongqing Tribe, you’ll come across a wooden boardwalk whose end is hidden by bushes. Winding upwards, Dongqing Bay gradually comes into full view, and the outline of the entire Dongqing Tribe can also be clearly seen. It’s one of the secret spots for capturing stunning aerial views of Dongqing Bay. Because the mountain resembles a woman’s breast when viewed from afar, locals also call this area “Nipple Mountain Trail.”

Most residents of Orchid Island are Christians or Catholics. There are three local prayer mountains here, among which “Langdao Prayer Mountain” is the hardest to climb due to its steep and narrow paths. Once at the summit, you can overlook Langdao Tribe and the endless blue sea.

Qingqing Grassland is the most expansive grassland at the southern tip of Orchid Island. It’s an uplifted coral reef plateau with iron- and magnesium-rich soil that forms red earth, nurturing a vast expanse of interwoven dark green and light green grassland. It’s a great place for visitors to enjoy sunsets. Orchid Island is a precious natural treasure of Taiwan. While visitors come to experience the beauty of this island gem, they should also pay attention to environmental protection and respect the local traditional culture and rituals.
